Celebrating European Day of Languages
European Day of Languages is on 26 September 2024. Run by the Council of Europe, this is a fabulous opportunity to involve your pupils in international activities and open the door to the wider world. The theme this year is Languages for Peace (a topic that’s arguably more relevant than ever).
What will you do to celebrate and how can you make sure your students get the best from the day?
There is a range of free resources for you and your partner schools to download and events for you and your students to join. The ones available from our partner organisations – the British Council and the Goethe-Institut – you can be confident will be high quality and relevant.
We are particularly committed to supporting a turn around in German language learning and have commissioned the British Council to create a series of resources for both primary and secondary classes. Titled ‘Welcome to German and the German-speaking world’, these have been designed to be a fun way to engage students with the language and the culture.
The Goethe-Institut is running a careers fair on 27 September. You can find out more on their website (registration closes in early September).
